The International Symposium on Fisheries Oceanography

Fisheries oceanography is the study of oceanic environment-fishery processes affecting the abundance and distribution of fish species, and focuses on understanding of integrated marine ecosystem processes and seeks to reduce uncertainty in management decisions through interdisciplinary research. In order to bring together scientists and researchers to share and exchange information, experiences and research results in fisheries oceanography, Shanghai Ocean University, Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chinese Society of Oceanography plans to organize an International Symposium on Fisheries Oceanography. The symposium is targeted for providing a platform for exchanges of scientific information between scientists of different countries and disciplines and for the development of collaborations in fisheries oceanography.

Shanghai Ocean University, Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chinese Society of Oceanography sincerely invites you to attend and present at the symposium.

The symposium will be held from May 18-20, 2016 at the Shanghai Ocean University in Shanghai, China. The main themes of the symposium include:

1)         Evaluating the impact of climate change on marine fisheries and fisheries ecosystems;

2)         Incorporating ecological information in the assessment and management of marine fisheries resources;

3)         Enhancing and integrating the application of remote sensing, geographical information system and computer simulation in fisheries oceanography;

4)         Understanding coupled biological-physical processes in the dynamics of marine fisheries species

5)         Evaluating and modeling habitats for marine fishes;

6)         Developing new models or methodologies for data analysis in fisheries oceanography; and

7)         Other relevant research and management issues in fisheries oceanography.

The deadline for submitting abstracts is April 1, 2016. Abstracts should be prepared in English.  The authors with accepted abstracts will be encouraged to write research/review articles which should be prepared in English. These papers will be reviewed and published in a special issue of ACTA OCEANOLOGICA SINICA (2017). The deadline for submitting full papers is June 30, 2016.
